As Limp Bizkit lead vocalist Fred Durst attended the Razzie Music Awards, he was extremely disappointed to not win the prestigious Worst Lyricist of All Time category.

Coming onto the scene in the late \u201890\u2019s, Durst established his hatred for writing meaningful and coherent lyrics with the song Nookie:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Chorus]\nI did it all for the nookie (Come on)\nThe nookie (Come on)\nSo you can take that cookie\nAnd stick it up your (Yeah)\nStick it up your (Yeah)\nStick it up your (Yeah)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Before his unexpected loss at the awards show, Fred Durst had a multi-decade monopoly on atrocious lyrics until he was briefly overtaken by Cardi B\u2019s song WAP, then again by Sexyy Red\u2019s song Pound Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judges did however award Durst extra points when one of them remembered he wrote the song Douche Bag which contains some of the most trifling lyrics ever written:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While interviewing Fred Durst during the show, he details how the process of writing complete gibberish may appear easy, but constructing horrible lyrics is not as easy as it seems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Fred explains,
\u201cIt\u2019s really difficult to construct grammatical incorrect sentences that are not only incongruent to the theme of the music, but also convey to the audience that you don\u2019t respect their time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA lot of imitators have tried to incorporate my style of immature insults into their lyrics, but japes and jeers will only get you halfway there. Also, if you scream too many off-key hateful expletives, you run the risk of hyping up angry degenerates that might develop an affinity for your wordcraft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fred goes on to explain that awful lyrics require the perfect blend of not attracting new listeners while totally letting down hard core fans. Unsurprisingly, Fred Durst did not want to share the spotlight for his core competency with fellow bandmates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cListen, my band Limp Bizkit has a unique guitarist, a talented drummer, and a bassist that slaps super hard. Although I would like to give the other guys credit, I really have to award myself the sole honor of habitually ruining every song with terrible lyrics just when they start to get a good groove going. It\u2019s safe to say I\u2019m one of the only living lyricists that has consistently wrecked every potentially good song for multiple generations of listeners for over 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nFollow @offendthemargin<\/a>
